Our Story
The Story Behind Eco-Shoes Africa
Eco-Shoes Africa was founded in 2022 in Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, Uganda, by a group of refugees committed to solving two pressing challenges in their community: lack of access to school shoes for children and limited livelihood opportunities for youth and adults. What began as a small initiative has grown into a community-based organization that produces eco-friendly shoes while empowering vulnerable people through skills training and employment.

Our Process
Our Approach to Change
1. Identify Needs
We work closely with refugee and host communities to understand the key challenges affecting children’s education and household livelihoods, especially lack of footwear and income opportunities.
2. Design & Produce Solutions
We produce durable, eco-friendly shoes while involving community members in training and production. This ensures both access to school shoes and creation of local jobs.
3. Deliver & Empower
We distribute shoes to vulnerable children and equip youth and adults with skills and support for small businesses, ensuring long-term self-reliance and sustainable impact.
